Songs that killed

Melancholy

Lalai kerana rasa terhibur keterlaluan, lalai kerana dibuai perasaan.

Lagu yang membunuh,
Saya terlihat satu dokumentari di National Discovery Channel, tentang satu lagi yang dianggap menyebabkan banyak kematian - bunuh diri. Masa tengok tu, siap host program bagi amaran, berhati-hati mendengar lagu tersebut nanti sebab takut bunuh diri. Waaah, nerbes jugak, kot-kot dengar kena rasuk ke apa. Nauzubillah. Lagu tu dicipta sekitar tahun 1930an so muziknya memang klasik, cuba kalau kita hayati lirik lagu then baru kita faham kenapa lagu tu dianggap membunuh. ;-)

Gloomy Sunday by Billie Holiday

Sunday is gloomy
My hours are slumberless.
Dearest, the shadows
I live with are numberless.

Little white flowers
Will never awaken you.
Not where the black coach
Of sorrow has taken you.

Angels have no thought
Of ever returning you.
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you?

Gloomy Sunday

Gloomy is Sunday,
With shadows I spend it all.
My heart and I, have
Decided to end it all.

Soon there'll be candles
And prayers that are said, I know.
Let them not weep,
Let them know that I'm glad to go.

Death is no dream,
For in death I'm caressing you.
With the last breath of my soul,
I'll be blessin' you.

Gloomy Sunday

Dreaming, I was only dreaming.
I wake and I find you asleep
In the deep of my heart, dear.

Darling, I hope that
My dream never haunted you.
My heart is telling you,
How much I wanted you.

Sedikit sejarah tentang lagu ini:

There have been several urban legends regarding the song over the years, mostly involving it being allegedly connected with various numbers of suicides, and radio networks reacting by purportedly banning the song.[14] However, most of these claims are unsubstantiated.[15]

Press reports in the 1930s associated at least nineteen suicides, both in Hungary and the United States, with "Gloomy Sunday",[3][4][16] but most of the deaths supposedly linked to it are difficult to verify. The urban legend appears to be, for the most part, simply an embellishment of the high number of Hungarian suicides that occurred in the decade when the song was composed due to other factors such as famine and poverty. No studies have drawn a clear link between the song and suicide.[15]

In January 1968, some thirty-five years after writing the song, its composer did commit suicide.[17]

The BBC banned Billie Holiday's version of the song from being broadcast, as being detrimental to wartime morale, but allowed performances of instrumental versions.[3] However, there is little evidence of any other radio bans; the BBC's ban was lifted by 2002.[15]

Lagu melayu pun saya rasa ada yang membawa emosi melankolik kepada kita apabila mendengarnya, at least for me. Bila dengar tu rasa sebak, sayu, pilu. Ni beberapa lagu yang bila saya dengar rasa macam melankolik jiwaku. Takder sentimental value or sejarah pun untuk dikaitkan dengan lagu itu, serious, it just make me sad whenever i heard these songs.

Rindu Mu, Rindu Ku

Setulus Cintaku

Langit Petang
